Cape Verde

This is a place of wind, light, music and distance. These islands rise from the Atlantic with an austere beauty, dry landscapes, lost villages, empty roads and towns where life moves to a rhythm of its own.

What keeps bringing me back, however, is the warmth and resilience of the people and that particular feeling of being somewhere lost in the vastness of the ocean, between Africa and Europe. Here, life is resilience, and it can be both harsh and beautiful. Beneath the apparent simplicity there is an extraordinary richness, a place shaped by departure and return, saudade, morabeza, and the sea that surrounds everything.
